Tips on Raising CEO Kids from the mom of John Naylor
After talking to John Naylor of John Nayor Landscaping, I couldn’t wait to hear what his parents had to say about raising young entrepreneurs and parenting in general! Read on – you won’t be disappointed!
Here’s what his mom had to say:
1. I noticed that John was interested in landscaping and business when he started tearing up my yard and making pools and waterfalls. He started making money/being in business doing landscaping when he was 16.
2. My husband has his own business and we have always encouraged our children to work for
themselves.
3. To support him along the way we encouraged him in his endeavors. He was home schooled. My husband supported him by letting him use his truck, tractor, trailers and lawn equipment until he purchased his own.
4. Some of the challenges we faced with Jon came because he was always mature for his age. For example – he tried to drive a vehicle when he was 3! Now that was a challenge. The greatest challenge for all children is keeping the priorities or standards of the Bible first and not getting carried away with worldly temptations.
5. The best advice we could give to others who are raising young entrepreneurs – CEO Kids would be
A.) Know Jesus as Savior
B.) Seek God’s will through prayer.
C.) Let children experience hard things to build character.
D.) Teach boundaries for security.
E.) Show them that you love them and are proud of them.
F.) Home school – It grows children of strong individual character.
