Interview with Young Entrepreneur Aonghus Stevens, Founder of UAVs Australia
It’s not “kids business” for Aonghus Stevens, he is a smart young entrepreneur and he is serious about his company being successful!! Sarah: Please tell me how you got started and where CEO Kids and parents can find out more info about you.
Aonghus: I read a little exert in a school text book about UAVs and I had always been fascinated in them up to this point so it just intrigued me further. I then went home and decided to do some research of UAVs in the Australian marketplace and found their use to be non-existent. I wanted to do something to service this demand and the community as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles is an awesome tool. That’s when I decided to talk to some suppliers about running a little hobby business to service the market. After a little while (actually a large amount of time) I ended up with over 90 different platforms, 12 suppliers and contacts worldwide. All this started from behind my computer screen. Evelyn Larson Shares Her Insight of Raising Her Young Entrepreneur Daughter
Sarah: When did you notice that your daughter was interested in making money and being a kid in business?
Evelyn: Actually, what I noticed first was creativity, innovation, and leadership. When Leah was four she, removed some of the stuffing in our couch pillows to create a snow scene! Also, she loved to study catalogs and magazines beginning at a young age. She had a great sense of design and enjoyed illustrating and photography. Then she discovered story writing and the computer. She created a Family Magazine and Cousin Club Newsletter. She started a Girls Book Club. She proposed a fundraising project to her local library. All these skills and experiences led to her entrepreneurial pursuit at age thirteen. Click here, to discover more about Evelyn Larson and raising entrepreneur kids!
The Link Between Financial Literacy and Self-Esteem
Several years ago, my best friend and I decided to run a half marathon together. We were both in our mid-30’s, had young children and had never run that distance before. We found a training plan and stuck to it for 12 weeks. There were many days when we lacked motivation or messed up the training schedule. However, when the race day finally arrived, we were ready and able to run the 13.1 miles and even smile as we crossed the finish line.
Looking back on the race, what I remember most is not the t-shirt that I earned or the amount of time it took me to complete the distance. What I remember most and still carry with me today is the sense of accomplishment. I set a lofty goal, created a plan, worked hard and, ultimately, succeeded in meeting my goal. This process boosted my self-esteem and nurtured my self-confidence. To read more of “Is There a LINK Between Money & Self- Esteem?” CLICK HERE
